Last year it was announced that new zoning regulations would be introduced in 2024 to create more housing for BC residents. On December 7, 2023 the new Small-Scale, Multi-Unit Housing legislative requirements came into effect.
What We Know:
For Lots that are currently zoned single-family or duplex use:
Lots smaller than 0.069 acres may have up to 3 units
Lots larger than 0.069 acres may have up to 4 units
Lots larger than 0.069 acres & are in close proximity to public transit stops with frequent service may have up to 6 units
The municipal government have until June 30, 2024 to update their bylaws
